Construction of new elementary school continues at Rancho Viejo

Elementary school students who live within and near the master planned community of Rancho Viejo will be spending a lot less time getting to their classrooms in the fall semester of 2010. That’s because construction is continuing right on schedule for the opening of a new K-6 community school just a few blocks away from the Central Plaza in the heart of Rancho Viejo.

Initially, the school will host grades K-6 and will grow to K-8.

The Santa Fe Public School District is committed to implementing its mission and vision into the operations of the new school:

MISSION
The Santa Fe Public Schools exist to ensure that every student graduates prepared to be a productive citizen of our local and global community.

VISION
Our vision is to provide every student with a high quality education in a system devoted to equality, diversity and social justice. Every student will have multiple learning opportunities to meet challenging standards in a safe, caring, and respectful environment. Every student is expected to graduate prepared to take advantage of lifelong learning opportunities.

The new elementary school will join a variety of academic options available within Rancho Viejo. Education for every level from pre-kindergarten through high school, and from Santa Fe CommunityCollege to the Institute of American Indian Arts, can be found within the master planned community.
